Process For Recovering Your Data - Steps 1 to 7

Step 1: Free Evaluation

Send us your media for a free data recovery evaluation. See what to do for details on how to send. This evaluation allows us to perform diagnostic tests on your media and determine the level of work involved for a recovery. It usually takes 1 business day depending on the severity of damage.

Step 2: Evaluation Results and Quote

When the evaluation is complete, we will contact you with the results and provide a firm quote for your recovery. If the nature of the failure falls within our standard published pricing, this will be your quote. Many customers ask what drives data recovery pricing.

Step 4: Recovery Verification and Acceptance

This is the exciting part. When we call you with the results, we will be able to tell you exactly what is recovered. A directory list of recovered files will be available for your review. Ultimately you make the decision whether the recovery is successful or not. After you have reviewed the list and verified your priority files have been recovered, contact us with your approval and we will begin data prep.

Step 5: Data Prep

How would you like your data returned? For up to 40GB, DVDs are convenient and are included in the data recovery fee. For larger amounts of data, you may wish to purchase a new external or internal hard drive to put the data on. Your choice!

Step 6: Payment and Return

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, company checks, certified checks and cash. Let us know how you wish to pay and how you'd like your data returned. New storage media (excluding CDs and DVDs) and shipping fees are in addition to the quoted recovery fee.

Step 7: You have your data!

Now you can give a sigh of relief as you see your recovered data for the first time. We also provide a 10 business day Data Guarantee. We keep an image of the recovered data for ten business days. If, during that time, you have a problem with the recovered files, we can use the image to address the problem.

What if I decline the Quote?

If you decline the quote, there is no charge for the evaluation. You are free to pickup, dispose or have your media shipped back to you. Shipping charges apply.

What if Bytes Back gets some data but not all the data I needed?

Verification of the data recovery results is an important step in the recovery process. If your required files are not recovered, you have the option to decline the recovery at no charge. Customer satisfaction is our commitment.

What if I leave my media with Bytes Back over 90 days?

Bytes Back will generously hold your media for 90 days. During this time we will attempt to contact you once a month to remind you that we have your media. After 90 days, we will try to contact you one last time before disposing of it. This is just in case you change your mind.
