Does Bytes Back offer flat rate recoveries from defective hard drives? top
Bytes Backs first priority is maintaining the maximum chance for the successful recovery of your data. All of our processes and procedures are designed strictly for that one purpose. We believe in providing the best price possible that still allows us to operate within these strict procedures. We also believe you should only be charged for the resources required for your specific situation. Flat rates are typically an average price of all situations combined, not your specific type of failure.
Let’s say for example a company does flat rates recoveries from defective desktop drives at $1,200.00. You may like the assurance of knowing what the price will be prior to submitting your job but let’s take a deeper look at what is really going on. Many recoveries may only require the man hours and resources to justify a $700.00 quote. With the flat rate system, this client would still be charged $1,200.00. There are also some recoveries that require the man hours and resources to justify a $2,800.00 quote. One would have to wonder if a flat rate Data Recovery company is going to make this investment only to charge $1,200.00 or are they just going to inform the client that their data is not recoverable when in reality there is a chance for it to be recovered. The data may be extremely critical to the client and they would have preferred the higher quote to still get their data back. It’s our job to provide the best quote possible that gives us the budget to exhaust all possibilities to recover the data. We can not do that with flat rates on defective hard drives. It’s up to the client to decide whether their files are worth the quoted amount or not.
Does Bytes Back offer different prices for home users and businesses? top
We do not charge more for a business to have their data recovered than a home user. We quote strictly based on the level of work and resources it will take to recover the data, not the amount we think the client can afford.
Does Bytes Back charge different prices for different levels of service? top
Bytes Back operates on a first come, first serve basis but all jobs are addressed and worked on as quickly as possible. We do not believe it is fair to put one clients’ recovery on hold because another client paid us to go to the front of the line. We do understand that some clients’ data is mission critical and they need it as soon as possible. We just don’t charge them extra to do what we were going to do anyway, expedite their recovery.
The only way we could perform a job quicker than we already do is to work on it during off hours. We do provide this service option for a fee, and only if we feel it will result in the recovery actually getting completed faster than normal. We would not, for instance, take a job in on a Saturday evening and charge rush fees if we know we will need parts that can not be ordered until Monday anyway
Other than the off hours rush service, all recoveries are completed as quickly as possible. Much of the time required for the data recovery process can not be controlled and the parts that we can control are always expedited. It has been our experience that other than fees for after hour service, paying different prices for different levels of service typically does not change the time frame for a recovery to get completed. There are also times a company will reduce their price if the client will wait longer for their recovery. This really means you will pay less if you allow them to leave your project sitting on a shelf for a while, not that your recovery will be worked on after the full price clients are completed.
Does Bytes Back provide a list of files that will be recovered with your quote? top
Many data recovery companies claim they will provide you with a file list or directory listing of the files they are going to recover along with their quote for the recovery. The truth is we can not tell you what will be recovered before we go through the recovery process. If a company is able to provide a client a list of what will be recovered, it simply means they have already recovered the data. In that case, one should expect the quote to be on the lower end of the price range. There are occasions where the data is recovered during the evaluation stage. In these cases we still do not provide the client this information as they are only preliminary results. Only after a quote is approved and the entire recovery process is completed, including our quality control checks, can an accurate report of the recovery results be generated.
